CODE COMPLIANCE & TESTING

Are your required tests up to date?

• Category 1 Testing (Annual)

This annual safety test ensures your elevator's safety devices, emergency operations, and key components are functioning properly. It's a critical inspection to catch potential issues before they become hazardous.

• Category 5 Testing (Every 5 Years)

This full-load test evaluates the elevator's hydraulic or traction system under rated load conditions. It confirms that the equipment is still performing within manufacturer and code specifications.

Have you completed your Fire Alarm and Emergency Power Testing?

• Firefighter Recall & Fire Alarm Integration
• Your elevators must interface correctly with your building’s fire alarm system to ensure proper recall operation in emergency situations. This includes Phase I and Phase II recall functions.
• Shunt Trip Testing
• For elevators serving sprinklered machine rooms or hoistways, the shunt trip disconnect must be tested to ensure safe shutdown in case of fire activation.

Are you aware of recent code changes?

• National, state, and local code requirements are updated regularly. If your equipment hasn’t been evaluated against current code in the last few years, you may be non-compliant without knowing.

Have you been advised of deficiencies during recent inspections?

• If a state or third-party inspector has cited your equipment for non-compliance, those items typically require correction within a limited timeframe.
